FFMV was the first project of the Fast Food Collective. It was an attempt at an experimental platform for DIY music video production and distribution.
Here is some of the language I was using at the time:
Fast Food Music Video is an expanded cinema collective based out of Bushwick Brooklyn. We use creative technology and experimental performance techniques to both deconstruct, critique, and expand the medium of the music video, while exploring non monetary forms of use-value within the DIY cultural economy in Bushwick.
We are trying to change the idea of what and how a music video is. Developing a concept called social cinema, we employ radically different techniques towards the creation of music videos involving audience participation, cutting edge technology, Absurdist spectacle, non linear story telling, collaborative process and the distribution power of online publishing.
Through these devices, we are able to create super low cost music videos in a radically connective environment that flattens the distance between performers, audiences and promotion/distribution. And we’re able to do it FAST.
